I’m excited that Heather will be joining John and me. Ever since moving to Pittsburgh and hearing Heather’s “Edges of the Day” I’ve been a huge fan of hers. We’re working on a special evening of music – Hope you can make it.

This month I’m doing something a little different with a Songwriter’s “In the Round…” Join George, Emily, Mark and me for an evening of song swapping.

The Riveting Rosies ARE Heather Kropf, Sue Gartland, Janet Ingram, Tracy Drach and me….

Sadly the Rosies had to say goodbye to two of its founding members – Stacy Mates and Patti Spinner – who in this past year have made their way up to Michigan to weld the ailing auto industry back into shape. But the Pittsburgh contingent of the Rosies forges on. Don’t miss it!

John and I will host two special guests – Chris Fitzmartin (who joined us on our first night at Arefa’s) is back with more psychedelic folk and blues – and Michael Young – who hosts a weekly jam session at his house and who is responsible for introducing me to a bunch of great musicians (including John and Chris) will join John and me performing a few of his originals. Don’t miss it!

Janet Ingram is our special guest this month.

Janet and her husband Barry are two of the reasons I moved to Pittsburgh! She’s a very talented songwriter and John and I are excited that she’s going to be joining us. She rarely performs out these days so you should come check it out!

John Caldwell and I will be doing more of our tried and true covers and original songs…Arefa’s makes the BEST cappuccino’s ever so check ‘em out!

I’ve been asked to open for Trina Hamlin – check her out she’s great! Local favorite Joey Murphy will also be playing.

This is our first house concert in a few years and we’re extremely excited to be hosting Trent Wagler & the Steel Wheels. This trio from the Shenandoah Valley are on the road and stopping off in Pittsburgh. Although classified as Original Oldtime and Americana Music, they are much more – this is Roots Music. Acoustic Music ranging from old time, country folk, with elements of funk, soul, and the blues. Trent has been a singer/songwriter playing solo in the Shenandoah Valley since 2002. The Steel Wheels joined Trent in January of 2005, adding a fresh sound and exciting energy. The Steel Wheels are Brian Dickel on Bass and Eric Brubaker on Fiddle. Their musical influences range from Townes Van Zandt, Jerry Garcia, Stephane Grappelli, Norman Blake to Ben Harper, and Ani DiFranco.
Local ol’ time music aficionado with more than a taste of Latin influences, Emily Pinkerton, opens.

The festival is designed to impact and assist with the revitalization of the Wilkinsburg community. Their goal is to REDD UP Wilkinsburg and surrounding communities by raising awareness of environmental issues, expanding community educational outreach, and encouraging community involvement through activism and volunteering.

They focus on ways to engage young adults in activities that will help them to “CLEAN AND GREEN” their community.

This one-day event takes place on the beautiful grounds of the Jane Holmes Residence and Gardens. The festival includes numerous information and interactive booths by non-profit organizations, local government and community groups along with entertainment, food and music.

Nature activities for children are highlighted.

I’ll be playing from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The locally produced arts festival on Ellsworth Avenue in Shadyside, is a 3-day event starting on Friday, August 11 and going to Sunday, August 12. It features street-chalk muralists at work, strolling performers, the Divas of Drag, and live shows by local musicians and dancers including The Deliberate Strangers, The Boilermaker Jazz Band, Surviving the Odyssey andPillow Project Dancers.
